Rates
Proofreading & Copyediting: $30-50/hour
Academic Editing: $50-75/hour
Consulting: $50-70/hour
The Process
Upon partnering together, we will briefly discuss your vision for the project and assess your editing needs. Based on the project’s scope, complexity, and timeline, I will provide a price quote and an estimate for completion. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the finished project.
Services
Proofreading—The most basic type of editing. Proofreading services include checking for spelling errors, grammar errors, and simple stylistic edits (Oxford comma, spacing, etc.). I will note any copy that doesn’t make sense so that the author can correct it.
Copyediting—In addition to correcting typos and simple errors, copyediting includes doing some re-writing of the work, while keeping everything in the author’s voice. If any copy doesn’t make sense, I will suggest edits to improve the flow and cohesiveness of the writing.
Academic Editing—Professional editing for academic authors. Projects include academic dissertations, research papers, academic essays, and conference papers. Academic editing services encompass proofreading, copyediting, checking formatting of references and documents, checking citations, and indexing.
Consultation—Consultation and developmental editing come much earlier in the writing process. During this planning period, I will give feedback on your ideas and help flesh out early concepts before you have a complete or final draft. Think of this as a time to talk through your ideas with an experienced professional dedicated to helping you clearly articulate your vision.
