Academic Editing

When editing an academic manuscript, I collaborate closely with the author to ensure that my work addresses the manuscript’s purpose as well as the author’s needs. Structural editing, grammatical changes, and integration of outside sources are the norm for academic edits, as are maintaining a formal tone and preserving the author’s voice.

These examples showcase how I guide clients through the academic writing process. In Sample 1, the client and I used Microsoft Word’s markup feature to make and track changes. Sample 2 illustrates the benefits of a final proofread, with changes tracked in Google docs.
